Daphne had to hear from the chef earlier this evening that she can’t be in the kitchen because it’s dangerous.
Completely understandble.
HOWEVER, there’s ways around it. For starters, the chef could have looked at her so that she could read his lips. It’s not that difficult to do. Daphne put up mirrors. There’s that. Then you could always have daphne cut prepare everything AWAY from the commotion in the kitchen or at least away from where the “traffic” would be, and away from the stoves. Accidents happen, however I don’t think this show is very accurate. Deaf people are VERY aware of their surroundings. Even more aware when they are in a dangerous setting such as a kitchen or while driving. (did you know that Deaf drivers are the safest drivers?)
I’m sorry I just had to say something. I am Deaf myself and I’m telling you, there ARE ways around things. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t so something because of a damn “disability”. Hell DISABILITY DOES NOT mean you are disabled. You are just dis able. You do things differently but still accomplishing the same goal as everyone else. Hell… I was given an amazing opportunity over the past spring for a job and I did it all by myself, with no help. I went though what Daphne had to go through. In the end I had to prove myself to my bosses that I can do just like everyone else. I have a brand new job now and I have to prove myself all over again but that’s okay because I KNOW what im capable of. Daphne had to do the same. I’m proud of her. She may be a fictional character but you know what? A fictional character is making an example for everyone else in the Deaf community.
